In meditation, try to go beyond thinking. As long as thoughts enter the mind, you are functioning on the conscious level.
Meditation is not something you do, if you handle the body, the mind, emotions and energy properly you become meditative, if you try to become meditative you go crazy
If you take away your wrong identifications (with things which you are not), then you will see that your mind is just like a mirror, not saying anything, just reflecting, that is how your mind should work.
As a boat on the waters is carried off course by a gale, so an individual's discrimination is driven from its intended path when the mind succumbs to the wandering senses.
For those who have conquered the mind, the mind is their friend. For those who have failed to do so, the mind acts like an enemy.
